Late for Train Announces Camp Colton Fundraiser

Late for the Train, Flagstaff’s locally owned and operated coffee cafés and roastery has created a new blend of coffee to raise funds and awareness for Camp Colton—Flagstaff Unified School District’s 41 year-old environmental education program Flagstaff sixth grade children.

Camp Colton’s signature blend is called “Lodge Warmer” and was created by Late for the Train and Camp staff to capture the essence of the Camp Colton experience for coffee enthusiasts. Think crisp mornings, warm camp fires, and spending time outdoors with friends. Lodge Warmer will be available for limited time between January 21 and February 18, 2013 at Late for the Train’s three cafés (Hwy 180, Downtown and Flagstaff Medical Center) and via its website ( One-pound bags of Lodge Warmer will retail for $17.50 and 20% of sales will be donated to Camp Colton to support the program’s immediate and long term operating expenses. Late for the Train and Camp Colton’s longstanding local partner, Kahtoola (creator of innovative, high-performance outdoor products), will also include a number of prizes in randomly selected bags of Lodge Warmer; including, gift certificates for free Late for the Train coffee, Kahtoola gear and two Team Race Entries for the upcoming Kahtoola Agassiz Uphill Race and Camp Colton Fundraiser, which takes place on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Arizona Snowbowl.

“Since our founding in 1993, Late for the Train has adhered to its mission of “brewing community in a world-class cup,” said David Dobrick Late for the Train’s Owner and Founder. “Camp Colton is a great community program that has been serving the children of Flagstaff for over four decades. Late for the Train values Camp Colton’s environmental education programs and is proud to support the Camp through the sale of the Lodge Warmer blend. As we celebrate Late for the Train’s 20th year in Flagstaff, our mission of giving back to the community is stronger than ever and is reaffirmed by our partnership with Camp Colton.”

FUSD’s Superintendent Barbara Hickman said, “Late for the Train is a Flagstaff institution that is also part of the FUSD institution. We are honored and delighted to partner with LFTT, and are excited by this creative and generous fundraiser. On behalf of the students in FUSD, we send big thanks to Late for the Train for this community effort. I’m looking forward to my first cup of Lodge Warmer and hope to see you at Late for the Train!”

Cameron Kern, Camp Colton Director commented, “Drinking coffee is a longstanding tradition at Camp Colton, and the convenient location of Late for the Train on Hwy 180 has been an essential source of quality Camp coffee over the years. Working with the crew at Late for the Train to create Lodge Warmer was incredibly educational and fun! Until now, I had little sense of the knowledge, science, economics and passion that makes a great cup of coffee. Late for the Train knows coffee and has created a delicious blend for Camp Colton that folks will enjoy.”
